Things to Consider Before You Book Your Architectural Photography Shoot
Whats included
Contractor Sharing
Extended license for photography can be provided for any contractors working on the project, so they can also use the images for marketing purposes. In these situations, we charge an increase of 25% of the total cost for each additional contractor or party that would like to license the images for marketing. These will need to be agreed before the shoot. Any image licensing after the main client has been invoiced can be arranged and quoted for.
Photoshoot
I will take as many images as necessary that I feel meet your brief requirements or work commercially, for the project. After the photoshoot I will supply a digital contact sheet of all the images after the initial culling stage. From this contact sheet you will be able to choose your final images. Extra images can be licensed at a charge of £30 per image. We charge a 50% deposit which must be paid 10 days before the shoot, to secure the booking. Invoice balance must be paid once you have chosen your final images from the contact sheet. Once invoice is settled in full, we will edit and deliver the final images.
Licensing
Images licensed to clients for marketing purposes are for sole client use only unless contractor sharing was included in the original invoice. No imagery can be passed on to third parties for any usage unless agreed with myself in writing.
Image copyright remains with myself.
Weather and Lighting
Capturing architecture in its best light requires a careful dance with weather and time. I meticulously plan each shoot, calculating the sun’s position in advance to ensure the key elevations of your building are showcased at their finest. As such, it’s important to highlight the most crucial angles in your brief, and flexibility with building access is often essential. Shadows from nearby structures or the time of year can sometimes limit the light on certain elevations, making timing a critical factor.
For exteriors, golden hour or dusk shots may beautifully emphasise design details, so let me know if this is part of your vision. As for interiors, the choice between a sunny or overcast day depends entirely on the character of the space—both can offer distinct advantages. In cases where both exterior and interior photography is required, we may need multiple days to ensure each aspect shines.
If the perfect weather is crucial to your project, please keep in mind that we may need to reschedule for optimal conditions, particularly if your deadlines allow for this added flexibility.
